The Hideout

The Hideout is a remodel/ addition to a 60’s era ranch home in Westlake Hills.  The home’s size was doubled through the insertion of a multi level structure into the center of the existing house.  The project sits on a precipitous site bordering a wet weather creek. The existing house lent a kind of treehouse feel and we expanded on that idea with our addition design. The design language of the addition is decidedly ‘retro’ as it was our desire to weave the new work into the old as well as keep the structure tied into the fabric of the neighborhood. The home features a 700 sf elevated terrace connecting the Kitchen to the rear yard and pool. Materials include locally quarried limestone and plantation grown cypress siding to blend with the existing 8” vertical plank cedar.
